Doha: Garangao celebration as the day of happy gifts. The joy on the faces of the children was that the nominal Garangao returned with all the pride in the 3 years that the covid took away.
Dressed in traditional clothes and carrying a shoulder bag, the baby angels going from house to house collecting gifts and sweets was a joyous sight. Cultural programs held at Corniche Plaza were enthusiastically taken up by children and adults alike. From 8 pm to 12 midnight, the celebration is full of fun, laughter and a few things.
Organized by Qatar Tourism, the event included stage shows, art workshops, batula workshop (mask making), henna corner, polaroid instant selfie, fashion show etc. There was a rush of local people and others in Mishreeb downtown, where the two-day celebrations were taking place. Sweets were distributed and a fashion show was held.
The cultural event held at Sahat Al Nakheel, Siqat Alwadi Street, attracted the attention of visitors as children dressed in heritage costumes. The Garangao celebration took place at Cultural Village, Al Shakhab Village, West Walk, 900 Park and many other places. Families and children were busy gathering and exchanging stories.
