A healthy start to school with ‘Drum without clutter’

by time news

Breda – A new school year, a new start. Children can enjoy this the most if they have enough energy and are comfortable in their own skin. Healthy food and drink can support this. That is why Alderman for Health, Arjen van Drunen, gave the go-ahead for the ‘Drum without clutter’ campaign on 25 August. For a week, parents can receive a lunch box booklet at two LIDL branches in Breda in which they receive tips for a healthy lunch and snacks. A dietician is also available to give tips and answer questions.

We know that a healthy diet can help prevent obesity and cardiovascular disease later in life. You can’t start early enough with that“, says Alderman for Health Arjen van Drunen. He continues: “In Breda we want the healthy choice to become the easiest choice. We also want healthy eating to become a habit at an early age. The ‘drum without clutter’ campaign gives parents tips on how to give children tasty healthy lunches and snacks. In this way, together with partners in the city, we make healthy easy and normal.

Healthy, easy and inexpensive

The lunch box booklets contain facts, tips and examples about what you can give your child to school. The booklet shows that healthy can certainly be easy, and does not have to cost a lot. Not only is lunch included in the booklet, but it also contains tips for a healthy snack or treat. In addition, attention is also paid to the importance of drinking water.

The booklets are an initiative of JOGG-Breda in collaboration with GGD West-Brabant, JOGG Zuid Holland Zuid, GGD Zuid Holland Zuid, Jong JGZ and the Nutrition Center. The action ‘Trommel without clutter’ is brought to the attention of various LIDL supermarkets in Breda. In addition, the brochures are continuously distributed at the consultation offices of Jong JGZ during the 3-year and 9-month consultation. Finally, we encourage schools to bring the brochure to the attention of parents. Curious about the books, look at: www.trommelzonderrommel.nl

A dietician will be present at various times during the campaign week. The dietician also hands out the booklets to parents and, if desired, gives free nutritional advice. She can also answer questions.
