Two sows and their four wild pigs recently visited a private garden in Millau (Aveyron), reports Aveyron Press Center. A video shared by our colleagues shows the six pachyderms calmly roaming these exteriors. After damaging the lawn and running after the goat of the stunned residents, the intruders would have delighted in the fruits and vegetables from the garden.

200,000 euros of damage

However, this event is not isolated. A few days earlier, a sow and her babies had been seen in the town center of Saint-Affrique. According to Dominique Marbezy, technician with the Aveyron Hunting Federation, these visits are worrying: “This problem will certainly increase in the years to come,” he confided to our colleagues.

“As hunting is not authorized near homes, wild boars take advantage of these quieter peri-urban areas, where food is also very accessible,” explains the specialist. In Aveyron, the damage caused by wild boars costs around 200,000 euros each year, recalls Jean-Pierre Autier, president of the Federation.
