A large forest fire that started before noon (Monday) near the Petach Tikva Segula train station, led to a temporary suspension of train traffic in the area. Highway 40 from Segula Junction to Yarkoon Junction is blocked to traffic.

24 fire crews were called to the scene, where trees and grass were burning. At the direction of the fire officials, train traffic was temporarily stopped at the Sharon Ring stations: Ra’anana, Hod Hasharon, Kfar Saba Nordau, Rosh Ha’Ein North, Petah Tikva and Bnei Brak.

The Nature and Parks Authority closed the Mekorot Yarkon and Tel Afek national parks, including the swimming pools, and visitors were evacuated. About 200 students who were spending time in a nearby park were evacuated with the help of the policemen who arrived on the scene, with the helicopter of the Israel Police Air Unit assisting the work of the firefighters and policemen.
