Begum Selima Rahman, a member of the party’s standing committee, alleged that Awami League is sitting in power by arresting and killing BNP leaders and activists. He said, “On October 28, the government has stopped our rally out of fear.” Thousands of activists were arrested and killed.

He said this while inaugurating National Women’s Party Dhaka Metropolitan South conference in Nayapaltan on Monday (March 11).

Selima Rahman said that the January 7 election was not an election. It was just a formality to put Awami League in power. The whole world knows, there was no vote here.

He said that women play a leading role in the movement in any country. Women participated in the liberation war. Many women have supported their husbands and children in the liberation war. The language movement, the movement of the 90s, women were always at the forefront. In the future, women will be ahead in the movement of BNP. Women leadership will play a role in accelerating the ongoing movement.

The people could not vote in the January 7 elections – Selima Rahman commented that the people are waiting to exercise their right to vote. And Awami League is afraid of this fear. That is why they are talking about the mid-term elections themselves.

Women’s party president Afroza Abbas, general secretary Sultana Ahmed and many others were present at this time.
