The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, called on the Lebanese government to follow Britain’s example in its policy of deporting “illegal” refugees.

Geagea said on his “X” account today, Wednesday, that “Britain is a state of law and institutions, a state of human rights, freedom and justice. The House of Commons approved a law to deport every illegal immigrant.”

Geagea called on the Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, and the Interior Minister, Bassam Mawlawi, to follow Britain’s example and work “to follow up the work of the security services in order to return illegal refugees to Syria.”

Last Tuesday, the British Parliament approved a draft law allowing the British government to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda, North Africa.

The number of Syrians in Lebanon reaches two million people, constituting approximately 30 percent of the Lebanese population.

Calls for incitement and violence against Syrians in Lebanon have escalated over the past few days, especially those in the regions of Jbeil, Bourj Hammoud, and Achrafieh, after the killing of the official in the Lebanese Forces party, Pascal Soleimani, and the arrest of a network of Syrians for standing behind the incident.

Over the past few days, recordings of attacks and beatings of Syrians in Lebanon have spread, in addition to the demolition of tents for displaced Syrians in several areas.
