The device will help to plan and the time of fertilization

Its own agrometeorological station, which will help workers keep track of rare plants, has appeared in the Botanical Garden of the Moscow State University “Apothecary Garden”.

As MK was informed in the Botanical Garden, in addition to monitoring the microclimate in the territory, the meteorological station will help predict the development of plants, plan planting work, determine the timing of fertilization and the dates of processing trees and shrubs.

The weather station is completely autonomous – powered by solar energy. In addition to the solar battery, the complex is equipped with several sensors: air temperature and humidity, atmospheric pressure, soil temperature and moisture, wind speed and direction, time and amount of precipitation. In particular, thanks to the updated data on the approach of rain, garden workers will understand whether to water or not water the plants, and data on the arrival of cold weather will help to react in time and shelter the plants from frost.

The new Russian-made equipment is fundamentally different from traditional weather stations in its compact dimensions – it essentially represents one main mast, to which all the necessary sensors are attached. It has already been installed at the corner of the concert and exhibition field. Weather and soil monitoring data will be transmitted online, and anyone can track them on the garden’s website.

As explained by the director of the “Aptekarsky Ogorod” Alexei Retyum, despite the fact that the station will not be included in the network of the capital’s meteorological stations, the botanical garden staff are ready to regularly share its data to clarify the city meteorological parameters.
