More than a million and a half people wrap up the pope in Lisbon today and will spend the night on the vigil of the World Youth Day that will give way, this Sunday, to the last mass of Francis in the Portuguese capital.

The figure doubles the expectations for the first WYD to be held after the pandemic and which was initially scheduled for 2022 and had to be postponed due to the covid.

Since the pope arrived in Lisbon on the 2nd, he has been surrounded by crowds.

More than half a million attended their first meeting with the pilgrims, on Wednesday; Some 850,000 attended the Stations of the Cross on Friday and around 200,000 faithful attended the Fatima sanctuary today.

WYD, the largest Catholic concentration in the world, managed to gather some 6 million people in the Philippines and 2 in Krakow.
