Government Commission Established to Address Education and Social Issues
A new commission has been established by the Moroccan government to address education and social challenges. The commission, chaired by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, includes the Ministers of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, and Budget.
During a government majority meeting, Akhannouch emphasized the importance of returning teachers to the classroom to fulfill their duties. He also affirmed the government’s openness to dialogue and promised to review certain provisions of the civil servant status in National Education.
The commission’s formation follows extensive consultations involving over 21,000 teachers, 33,000 students, and 20,000 families. These consultations resulted in the development of an education reform plan.
The government is also implementing various initiatives to strengthen the social state, including social protection, housing assistance, and direct social aid programs.
The Secretary General of the Istiqlal Party, Nizar Baraka, highlighted the government’s successful response to challenges and its focus on immediate and effective interventions. He emphasized the importance of implementing the direct aid program efficiently to reach those in need.
The Secretary General of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Abdellatif Ouahbi, called on teachers to engage in dialogue with the government and return to their classrooms. He praised the government’s efforts to reform the education system.
The government majority has undertaken numerous reforms and must enhance its communication to inform the public about its initiatives.
