Riyadh: Another variant of Kovid 19 has been detected in Saudi Arabia, according to the Public Health Authority (WQA). A sub-variant of Omicron called XBB, which can spread very quickly, has been detected in the country. A few variants of Covid are still present in Saudi Arabia.

Omicron BA5 and BA2 are found in majority of covid positive cases. X BB has also been confirmed in a few names. Respiratory diseases are regularly reported in the country. Virus B infects most people. Variants of H1N1 and H3N2 are also found.

The Department of Public Health has warned that viral fevers, respiratory diseases and covid are likely to increase during the winter season and may severely affect those who are not vaccinated. Everyone should get the covid vaccination, booster dose and seasonal dose against influenza, especially the elderly, chronically ill and immunocompromised. Preventive measures should be taken.

But the ministry said in a statement that the campaign that reported a new variant of Covid is false. The ministry called for vaccinations to protect against climate change-induced diseases.
