Nuno, Toxic – “Sivafla”
The star of the hour, Nono, returns with her first single since the huge hit “Cute Boy”, together with the production team Toxic. You can find a direct connection in the new song “Sivafla” to its predecessor – beat house ready and wrapped for clubs with rap verses and a melodic poppy chorus. Despite this, “Sivapela” manages to innovate thanks to the prominent place it gives to Nonno’s unique hyperpop and thanks to the c-part which breaks the song and gives it a completely new color. All these prevent the song from becoming just an attempt to recreate “Cute Boy” and give it what might make it a hit in its own right.
Anna Zak – What do I have left of you?
Following on from “Shiny Pink” in collaboration with Ella Lee, it is evident that Geffen’s current initiative is to take young pop stars and present them in a different, and more complex (seemingly) light. On the face of it, this is a welcome initiative, but it does not necessarily prove itself in the test of reality. “What’s left for me of you” created by Geffen with Anna Zak is a slow ballad inspired by 80’s synthpop. All of these highlight the weak points of Anna Zak, whose voice sounds monotonous, hollow and almost robotic throughout the song. The production that tries to be nostalgic sounds mostly dated. It should be noted that the song is not bad, but the connection with Zeke does not flatter her or the song. Precisely in the last chorus, to which Gefen himself also joins, a kind of magic is created that did not happen throughout the song, thanks to Gefen’s voice that fills in the gaps in Zeke’s voice.
Roni Duani – “I want to be fast”
With all due respect to the contemporary stars, the one who shined above them all in the last week is actually the original pop princess – Ronnie Duane. “I want to be quick” is a song in the house style of the nineties – a style that has returned to the mainstream in a big way in recent times thanks to Lady Gaga, Drake and Beyoncé. The energetic production, the explosive chorus and Roni’s voice, which is the dream of every pop producer – all these make “Ba Li Zeriz” a song that you can’t help but play on repeat and Roni a pop star who deserves to be in the top in 2022 as well.
