The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed today, Saturday, that the current marketing season will achieve a large surplus in the wheat crop, while noting that there are many farmers who received their financial dues on the same day of marketing the wheat crop.
The ministry’s spokesman, Muhammad al-Khuza’i, told the (INA): “Our expectations for wheat production for the current marketing season 2024, and according to what was stated by the Minister of Agriculture Abbas Jabr al-Maliki, are that they will exceed what was achieved last season, which amounted to 5,200,000 tons. As for this year’s production “It will exceed the seven million tons barrier.”
Al-Khuzaie stressed, “We will achieve a major and qualitative shift in the production of wheat, as we will go beyond the stage of self-sufficiency and we will achieve a large surplus with this crop.”
He pointed out, “There are assurances from Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and the Minister of Agriculture that the wheat marketing process will be completed as quickly as possible,” stressing that “there were many farmers who received their financial dues on the same day that the wheat crop was marketed.”
The Ministry of Commerce announced earlier that it was fully prepared to receive quantities of wheat from peasants and farmers, while confirming the presence of government support to make the current marketing season a success.
