A love track without falling between killing and thrilling
Chup The Revenge of the Artist is the latest entry into the psycho thriller genre. The artist’s revenge, that’s what Chup says. The brutal murders taking place in the city, the I.G. investigating the case. The story progresses through Arvind Mathur, Nila Menon who wants to become a film critic and Danny who runs a flower shop.
Nila and Danny’s romance is one of the most charming elements of the film. It is difficult to tell the love track in a typical thriller movie. There is a good chance that it will fail. There are previous failed experiences. But Balki has managed to blend that thrilling feeling and love track in Chupi.
Nila comes to Danny’s flower shop to arrange flowers for her mother. Nila’s mother likes tulips the most. Danny grows it in his garden. Nila, who comes daily to offer flowers, eventually falls in love with Danny.
Guru Dutt’s old songs are used as background music for this romance. The film also has scenes that are similar to those of some Guru Dutt films.
Shreya Dhanwantari and Dulquer have given excellent performances as Nila and Daniya. Nila is not limited to a mere heroine but is given a good character sketch. She is a very ambitious young woman. An entertainment journalist, Nilak aspires to become a film critic.
Dulquer’s Dania is a multi-layered character. Many aspects of this complex character come out at the same time. Dulquer has portrayed Danny on screen with a lot of poise. His best performance as an actor will also be seen in Chup.
