On November 8, 2023, a festival opened in Ouagadougou to inform and alert on the issues of the importance of agriculture for food empowerment in order to promote local products through film screenings. On Friday November 10, 2023, day 3 of the event, a film on transhumance was screened to the delight of the public at the Jean Pierre Guingané Palace of Youth and Culture.

Lasting approximately 1 hour, this cinematographic work talks about pastoralism, transhumance and all the ways of life in this sector. A way to accommodate the objectives of this festival, according to Adama Gnanou, support and advocacy officer at Humundi.

« The very spirit of the festival is to use films to raise awareness among the population on issues of healthy eating, issues of agro ecology, issues of food sovereignty. So every evening, like this evening, we show two awareness films and a main film which deals with a topic of the day. This day 3, the theme is the question of transhumance”, explained the support and advocacy officer in Humundi.

To listen to him, this choice is due to the fact that “ In Burkina, there are always conflicts between farmers and breeders on this issue of transhumance. We therefore thought that by using this film, it could allow festival-goers to understand this problem.”

Ibrahim Zerbo, participant, said he found this choice “very original”. “ If this festival did not exist, it had to be created. Because we have a lot of entertainment and fun festivals. But here we have one who educates us, who leads us to understand the earth, the principles of the earth, how we must transform the earth so that it is beneficial for all. »he greeted.
