The current work week in Russia will be short due to the celebration of the Day of Russia on 12 June. In 2021, the holiday fell on Saturday, so the day off is postponed to Monday, June 14.

Thus, the Russians will work for four days, June 15 and 16, as well as on the 17th and 18th.

A new professional holiday has appeared in Russia

Last year, Irina Volynets, a member of the Public Chamber of Russia, chairman of the National Parents’ Committee, made a proposal to postpone the celebration of Russia Day from June 12 to July 1. She sent a corresponding proposal to President Vladimir Putin.

She explained that many Russians associate June 12 with the collapse of the USSR, and not with the acquisition of the country’s independence. Therefore, in her opinion, the date of the holiday should be changed. She also recalled that the voting on amendments to the Constitution in 2020 ended on July 1.
