A fine of BGN 100 was imposed on a woman who broke the glass of a commercial establishment and threatened security guards under the Decree on Combating Petty Hooliganism.

The offender leads a nomadic lifestyle after a fire destroyed her home. She abuses alcohol, has criminal records and has been placed in the Mental Health Center in Plovdiv many times.

On December 19 a car patrol of the Sixth Regional Office was directed to a report of broken glass at an office for quick loans on “Hristo Botev” Blvd. The police were met by an employee who explained that the homeless woman was the author of the vandalism. She was drunk, she leaned sharply against the window and it cracked. A team of a private security company was called to the scene, but it threatened the arriving guards with a knife.

The materials on the case were sent to a prosecutor, who, however, refused to initiate pre-trial proceedings. Sent the file to the head of the Sixth Regional Office, who will assess whether an act under the UBDH should be issued.

Before the District Court, the offender admitted and declared that she was unemployed. After reviewing the evidence, the magistrates decided that the fairest punishment was a fine of BGN 100.
