“Morocco is a strategic and fundamental partner for Spain, just as Spain is for Morocco,” said Ms. Castro in a statement to MAP, emphasizing her country’s desire to develop further cooperation with Rabat.
“We are united by numerous historical and cultural ties and by a proximity that makes mutual cooperation beneficial for both countries,” observed the former Secretary of State, noting that the visit carried out by the President of the Spanish Government in Morocco testifies to the ”interest” always expressed by Spain to maintain ”good relations with a neighboring and friendly country like Morocco”.
This visit is a continuation of the meeting of Mr. Pedro Sanchez with HM King Mohammed VI in April 2022 and the High Level Meeting, held on February 1 and 2, 2023 in Rabat, recalled Ms. Castro, noting that these meetings were crowned by the adoption of a ”renewed and ambitious” Roadmap and the signing of around twenty cooperation agreements ”beneficial for both countries”.
