(Montreal) The fatigue that a driver would have experienced at the wheel of his semi-trailer truck on Highway 20 at the beginning of the night, Thursday, caused him to lose his life according to the first elements of investigation of the Sûreté du Québec ( SQ).

The truck accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. near the exit of Highway 20 West leading to Saint-Simon, northeast of Saint-Hyacinthe.

According to initial information, the driver lost control of his truck to find himself in the central reservation.

The emergency services had to use the jaws of jail to get the victim out of the truck. The 53-year-old man from Louiseville was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The highway was completely closed to westbound traffic until 5 a.m. to allow police to analyze the scene. Later, a traffic lane was reopened.

The SQ says it has informed the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) of what happened.
