The Vox candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Santiago Abascal, has warned this Tuesday that, if his party manages to govern with the PP after 23J, “the tensions will return to Catalonia” and the situation in the autonomy could be worse than in 2017, when the Executive of Mariano Rajoy decided to apply article 155 of the Constitution before the attempt of the “separatists” to “carry a coup d’état”. In his opinion, the advantage of Vox being in the Executive branch is that “it will not happen as with a government with an absolute majority under Mr. Rajoy”, who in his opinion was not harsh with the nationalists, in a clear message to Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

“When a coup occurs, it is not possible to limit the intervention to a few months. It is absolutely necessary that there be a sustained, lasting intervention and use all the resources of the State to convince the population of Catalonia and improve concord ”, he assured during an informative breakfast organized by Europa Press in Madrid.

The Vox leader recalled that on that occasion both the PSOE and Ciudadanos agreed with the PP on a “155 joke” that has served to ensure that the separatists are now in power.

The leader of Vox has added that harmony between the Catalan citizens “is not going to be restored” by making “cessions to separatism”, because they are parties that demand that the formula for tensions not to return is to “surrender”, “deliver unity of the homeland” and “betraying hundreds of thousands of Spaniards”.
