Abdominal turtle, because it’s a matter of genetics

Science, man and woman abdominal tortoise, developing it is also a matter of genetics

Some people respond better to physical activity and training while others seem refractory to sculpted muscles. The reason may lie directly in the DNA, according to a study published in the journal Plos One and conducted by scientists at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, who have examined previous research to investigate the link between the effects of physical activity and genetics.

The team, led by Henry Chung, evaluated 24 studies on the topic, which in total involved 3,012 participants aged between 15 and 55. Experts found that the genetic difference can affect a significant percentage of the change in results deriving fromgymnastic activity, which changes according to the type of exercise. The research team identified 13 genes responsible for how the body reacts to cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength and anaerobic power exercises. The authors therefore suggest the introduction of genetic tests to adapt training to the individual organism, in order to maximize training results.

“We know that physical activity is good for everyone – he says Shared – but the rate of improvement is very variable even in the case of identical training regimes. We have identified some of the genetic factors linked to this variation.

The percentages of genetic influence in the exercises

In exercises designed to increase muscle strength, for example, the genetic component can affect 72 percent of the variation in the results of individuals following the same workout. “

Scientists also found that genetic traits can affect 44 percent of the variability in outcomes seen following cardiovascular fitness and 10 percent of that associated with anaerobic training. The rest of the variability, the researchers report, is influenced by factors such as nutrition, resilience and injuries of various kinds.

“Our body responds differently to stimuli – concludes Chung – because the genetic makeup is unique and peculiar to each individual. Thanks to our results, in the future it may be possible to improve the effectiveness of a targeted exercise regimen, by customizing the training program in a specific way ”.
