Abdul Ghani announces the inauguration of the new marine tanker to enhance the transport of oil to the world

Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayyan Abdul Ghani, announced today, Monday, the inauguration of the new sea tanker to enhance the transport of oil to countries around the world, while stressing the ministry’s keenness to strengthen the national carrier fleet.

A statement from the Ministry of Oil received by the (INA) stated that “Abdul Ghani, during his speech during a ceremony held on the occasion of the inauguration of the new tanker, said: “We stand here today in the port of Khor Al-Zubair, to celebrate once again the inauguration of the tanker “Sumer” earlier.” Indicating, “The new tanker’s load capacity is (32) thousand tons and is designated for transporting petroleum products. Its length is (184) meters and its width is (32) meters. A contract was made with one of the international Norwegian companies specialized for this purpose.”
He pointed out, “This comes within the plans of the Ministry of Oil to strengthen and develop the role of the national carrier in transporting crude oil and petroleum products to countries around the world,” pointing out that “the Ministry is studying the method of partnership with specialized international tanker companies to implement joint commercial transportation projects.”
For his part, Director General of the Iraqi Oil Tanker Company, Ali Qais, stressed “the importance of strengthening the national carrier fleet within the ministry’s plans with new large and medium tonnage tankers, in addition to concluding cooperation contracts with specialized international companies that contribute to the growth of its role in achieving financial revenues, praising the ministry’s support.” .
