The three former Ligue 1 players were sanctioned by the Turkish club this Monday, along with Valentin Rosier and Jean Onana.

The captain of the Cameroonian selection Vincent Aboubakar and the ex-Marseillais Eric Bailly are among the five foreign players dismissed by Besiktas Istanbul due to disappointing performances, the Turkish club announced on Monday.

“Vincent Aboubakar, Valentin Rosier, Eric Bailly, Rachid Ghezzal and Jean Onana were removed from the team due to poor performances and incompatibilities within the team,” said the club, currently fifth in the Turkish Süper Lig, in a press release.

The club’s new president, Hasan Arat, told AFP on Monday that he was ready to part ways with some of these players in the winter transfer window if “good opportunities” are presented. “Our number 1 priority is to build a better team. We will fill the holes in our squad during the (winter) break.”said the former basketball player and businessman, who took the reins of Besiktas last week.

After 15 days of the championship, the “Black Eagles” are 14 points behind the two other big Istanbul teams, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, neck and neck at the top of the standings.

Among his objectives, the president of Besiktas wishes to enter into an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to encourage the arrival of young players from the French club’s training center in Istanbul.
