A year has passed since the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine and the mobilization of the campus community to find solutions to the refugee plight. We will gather for a seminar in order to allow the presentation of a wide spectrum of research that has been carried out in the past year and to encourage a discourse on the importance of the academy, as an international network of institutions and researchers, and its role in times of emergency. Also, we would like to incorporate on this day testimonies from the experiences of refugee-guests of the university whose academic activities were stopped due to the war and they were invited to the campus for further studies and research. The conference will be a platform for a reflexive examination of the global contexts of the war in social, geographic-political, cultural issues and more, and will allow a fruitful dialogue and a platform for cooperation between the participants.

The study day will be held on Tuesday – March 28, at 9:00 am.

Conference program:

  • Presentation of studies
  • The role of academia in times of crisis – presenting personal experiences from the experiences of refugees visiting campus, refugee and immigration issues

The conference will be held in English and is open to the general public.
