The government and the Travancore Devaswom Board have informed the High Court that steps have been taken to control crowding at Sabarimala. The daily number of pilgrims was limited to 90,000. 420 additional policemen were appointed from Marakutam to Sannidhanam. 100 new reserve battalions were deployed on the 18th. Pilgrims will not be allowed through Chandranandan Road as part of traffic control.

The government submitted the instructions in a case taken up on its own accord by a division bench of the High Court comprising of Anil K Narendran and PG Ajith Kumar regarding crowd control at Sabarimala. The court directed to evict the contractors if the parking facility is not made efficient. The Devaswom Special Commissioner submitted a report to the court about the incident that took place in Marakutta yesterday.

The government informed the court that the parking facility at the station has been made efficient to control the traffic. After the parking limit is exceeded, arrangements will be made to control the congestion at the parking lots in Erumeli, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam with the knowledge of the District Collectors. Traffic will be controlled by blocking vehicles at these places. The government has also announced that more volunteers will be appointed to distribute drinking water and biscuits to the pilgrims who are queuing up for darshan. The sitting will continue on Tuesday.
