The Passion of Christ and the use of animals

The Passion of Christ is a celebration recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of CDMX. However, the use of 100 horses and several donkeys in their annual performance has generated controversy due to the possible animal abuse involved.

The initiative of the Association ‘Va Por Sus Derechos’ seeks to rethink this centuries-old practice for the sake of respect and protection of animals, starting the battle legally.

Users on social networks have expressed their support for the protection presented by the Va Por Sus Derechos Association, urging the authorities to prohibit the use of horses in other activities, such as in La Marquesa and in parksarguing that heat and lack of care seriously affect these animals.

This online support reflects a growing awareness of animal welfare and the need to take effective measures to protect them.

Furthermore, the movement gains strength due to the recent tragic death of Elena Larrea, a prominent animal rights activist, which has generated commotion on social networks.

Writing has become a nice way to express my thoughts. Graduated from the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH), I have worked in different media and in areas of social communication, which have allowed me to learn about different sides of life. At 30 years old I consider myself independent, strong and inexperienced, so I learn to live one day at a time.
