She is one of the most popular actresses in Germany. But Grit Böttcher has disappeared from the scene for a few years now. Now her daughter is speaking out.
Grit Böttcher has been in front of the camera since the 1950s, flickering across the screens in series like “A Crazy Couple” or films like “Three Men in the Snow.” The Berlin native inspired millions of people, especially in the sixties and seventies.
However, things have been quiet around Grit Böttcher for a few years now. However, this does not seem to be due to a lack of role offers. In an interview with “Das Neue Blatt”, her daughter Nicole Belstler now explains why the actress is withdrawing so much.
“Nobody has to worry about mommy. She’s doing well. And I pray to God that it stays that way for a long time,” the 61-year-old gives the all-clear. “Mom has just received two role offers. She turned down one straight away and is still thinking about the other. But she actually doesn’t want any more.”
“He left a hole in mom’s life”
According to her daughter, Grit Böttcher has “done everything, seen everything, experienced so much” in her career. The now 85-year-old only enjoys her life within her own four walls. The former TV star no longer leaves the house. The trigger for the withdrawal was the death of Wolfgang Rademann. The “dream ship” inventor died in January 2016 at the age of 81.
“The two of them knew each other for 56 years. She misses him terribly. He left a gap in mom’s life that can no longer be filled,” explains Nicole Belstler to the paper. It was Wolfgang Rademann who made Grit Böttcher a star. She achieved her breakthrough alongside Harald Juhnke with the comedy series “A Crazy Couple,” which he launched at the time.
Grit Böttcher was also a guest on the “Dream Ship” several times, most recently in 2016, shortly after the television producer’s death. It was the last episode produced by him. After that, the actress never boarded the ship again. Four years later, the corona pandemic came. “Since then she hasn’t left our family shared apartment – at most she does puzzles around in the garden.”
