Mumbai: Tennis star Leander Paes has been convicted in a domestic violence case by a Mumbai metropolitan magistrate court. The court ruled in favor of the actress’ ex-girlfriend and actress Riya Pillai. In 2014, Riya Pillai filed a domestic violence complaint against Leander Paes. The court found Pace guilty in this case.
The court also ordered Riya to pay Rs 50,000 per month in rent. In addition to this, another Rs 1 lakh has to be paid. However, the court ruled that Pace would not have to pay if Riya decided to continue living in the same house in Bandra where the two lived together. Meanwhile, Pace must continue to pay for her daughter’s care.
The verdict, handed down by Metropolitan Magistrate Komalsingh Rajput earlier this month, came out on Wednesday. Rhea approached the court stating that she had been in a relationship with Leander Paes for eight years, equivalent to marriage. They demanded protection from pace under a law that protects women from domestic violence.
