Chennai: In a shocking development, actress Vijayalakshmi has filed a complaint against Naam Tamil Party coordinator Seeman at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office, demanding a re-investigation into a sexual assault case that was dropped last year.

The case was initially registered in 2011, when Vijayalakshmi accused Seeman of sexual assault and female assault. However, the police dropped the case after Vijayalakshmi wrote a letter requesting no further action, citing a negotiation between herself and Seeman.

Last month, Vijayalakshmi filed a fresh complaint against Seeman, alleging that his supporter Selvam had been threatening her with a demand for one crore rupees. She further claimed that Seeman did not fulfill his promises and had stopped contacting her after receiving 50,000 rupees for five months.

Following the complaint, the Valasaravakkam police reopened the old case and interrogated Vijayalakshmi at various stages. The actress also appeared in the Tiruvallur court to give a statement. Medical tests were conducted, and the police initiated an investigation based on the results.

On the 16th of this month, Vijayalakshmi surprising withdrew the case against Seeman and announced her plans to leave for Bangalore. Expressing her disappointment with the police department’s lack of action, she claimed to have reached a resolution after having had a conversation with Seeman.

In a video posted on the internet, Vijayalakshmi stated, “I came to Chennai hoping for justice, but the police did not expedite the investigation. I withdrew the case without any other option and left Chennai for Bangalore.”

The video has since gone viral on social media, causing further controversy. Subsequently, Seeman appeared at the Valasaravakkam police station on Monday for questioning, accompanied by his wife and lawyers.

During Seeman’s visit, Naam Tamil Party workers surrounded the police station, prompting heightened security measures. Speaking to the media, Seeman claimed that the DMK had taken up the case to discredit him, emphasizing that the allegations were baseless.

“This case was filed during the AIADMK period, but no action was taken due to the lack of truth in it. The DMK could not handle me, and that’s why they have resurrected this case,” Seeman asserted.

The re-opened case has led to heated debates, with Seeman alleging that the motive behind it is to tarnish his reputation and disconnect him from the people.

As the investigation continues, the public eagerly awaits further updates on this contentious matter.
