Risks include epidemics and pandemics, disease (NCD), and mental health, as well as the need for new approaches.

During the speech, Dr Moya told the medical students that the emergency and re-emergence was allowed in the new International Health Regulations in 2005, which came into force in 2007. Before the speech ended, the young medical students were able to ask the speaker questions, one of which was: What guidelines should hospital administration implement to do this? Dr. Moya replied that what the management can provide is important, because a health service administrator administers primary care, he can distribute human resources very well and he notes the importance relating to primary health care to be open to cases, to do a triage and to establish integrated networks of health services so that patients go to the first level and then to the second level with epidemiological and community surveillance and participation with local health authorities.

In the conference entitled “Hearts of the Americas: response to the epidemic of cardiovascular diseases from primary care,” Dr. Mariana Rodríguez de la Cerda, consultant for PAHO in the field of non-communicable diseases and focused on the Hearts of the Americas initiative, an interactive dynamic to implement with the students. This approach identifies one of the most impactful areas to address this problem at the population level. It consists of implementing technical packages aimed at modifying sodium consumption, ending tobacco consumption, reducing the intake of trans fatty acids and promoting more active communities to reduce alcohol consumption.

Finally, the doctor emphasized the importance of modifying the model of care for these diseases in the health system. He emphasized the need to promote healthy habits and implement standardized protocols based on evidence, as well as to assess the cardiovascular risk of each patient.

Dr José Guadalupe Salazar Estrada, Rector of CUSur, was present to close the Medical Update 2024 conference During his speech, he thanked the two speakers representing PAHO in Mexico for coming to give these talks for young medical students CUSur. .
