The company has taken stock of this service, which facilitates transit through the station and getting on and off trains, on the International Day of People with Disabilities, and has recorded the provision of 635,726 assistance to travelers in the first ten months of the year. year, 19 percent more than between January and October 2022.

As of October, Madrid-Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes is the station that registers the highest number of attendances (101,414, 16 percent of the total), followed by Madrid-Chamartán-Clara Campoamor (70,395 attendances, 11 percent ), Barcelona Sants (62,616, 9.8 percent) and Sevilla Santa Justa (29,947, 4.7 percent).

By type of assistance, just over half (51.8 percent) was provided to older people with mobility difficulties; 14.5 percent, to people with reduced mobility; 11.7 percent, to travelers in wheelchairs; 9.6 percent, to passengers with visual disabilities and 7.8 percent, to people traveling with baby strollers. Likewise, assistance is provided to pregnant women or people with hearing and cognitive disabilities.

Expansion and improvement of the service

Adif continues to expand and improve About in response to the growth of rail traffic, the commissioning of new high-speed lines and the liberalization process, as well as the increased demand and new needs of travelers.

On December 4, the service began at the Arvalo station (Vila), joining the four stations that have implemented it this year: Antequera AV, Sanabria AV, A Gudia-Porta de Galicia and Callosa de Segura-Cox.

Adif About provides service in 145 stations with high-speed, medium and long-distance train traffic, where 600 assistants make it easier for travelers to pass through the station and get on and off the train.

During the year, the service has continued to incorporate new features, expanding the points of the station where travelers are assisted (entrance, parking, kiss&ride area, public transport stops) and promoting digitalisation. Currently, seventy stations offer Svisual, a sign language video interpretation system for people with hearing disabilities; and mobility assistants have been provided with smartphones and tablets.

Five million euros for auxiliary means

In addition, it plans to mobilize an investment of around five million euros to renew auxiliary means by supplying, among other equipment, wheelchairs, telescopic ramps and lifting platforms for access to trains.

Adif About is a service provided by Adif, and that all railway companies operating in Spain offer free of charge to their travelers with disabilities (motor, visual, hearing and cognitive) and reduced mobility (elderly people, pregnant women, people carrying baby strollers, etc.) to facilitate passage through the stations and getting on and off the trains.

The service is available through the sales channels of the railway companies and in person at seventy stations. In these terminals you can request up to thirty minutes before the train departure and in the remaining 75 stations, at least twelve hours in advance.
