Afghanistan qualified for 2023 Cricket World Cup…!

The World Cup (50 over) cricket series will be held in India next year. A World Cup series is being held for the first time to qualify for this series with a total of 10 teams participating. 13 teams are playing for 8 places.

So far, 6 teams namely India, England, New Zealand, Australia, Bangladesh and Pakistan have qualified for the tournament. Meanwhile, the Afghanistan team has gone to Sri Lanka to participate in a three-match ODI series.

Afghanistan won the first match. The second match at Pallekale was abandoned halfway through due to rain. After this, Afghanistan gained 5 more points in the points table for the series and took the 7th place with 115 points. It thus qualified to play in the main round of the World Cup (2023).

Currently 10th in the points table, Sri Lanka (67 points) will get 10 points if they win their last match against Afghanistan and level the series. West Indies (88 points) and Ireland (68) are at the 8th and 9th positions respectively. The South African team is ranked 11th.
