Fifteen years after the band’s musical came on stage, it is set to return.

The musical, which is based on the successful film by director Avi Nesher, which was a great success in cinemas in the country, when it was released and was watched by about 504,000 viewers, will soon return to the stages.

The band is an Israeli musical based on the mythological film, which tells the story of a military band in the heyday between the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War. Against the background of the events of the period, a band is formed – a group of talented and wild young men and women who appear before soldiers all over Greater Israel at the time.

Between performances, the relationship between the band members on the beautiful and the ugly in them is revealed: the struggles over the solos, the antics, the romance and the humor in the shadow of the war and death. The musical is accompanied by songs that have become ironclad assets of Israeli culture and have not yet miraculously survived: “Bird Eyal”, “Peace”, “In a Red Dress”, “My Dear Son” and of course “A Song for Peace”.

In the coming days, the casting will begin and the production is looking for actors who will play Giora Datner (Gidi Gov), Bazooka (Meir Suissa), Daniel (Shashi Keshet), Miki (Liron Nirgad), the band’s director (Tuvia Tzafir) and other roles.

The new play, which will be staged at the National Theater, will be written by Oren Yaakobi and directed by Tzadi Tzarfati.
