The Chief of General Staff, Major General Aviv Kochavi, returned to Israel today after his first visit to Bahrain. During his visit, the Chief of Staff met with the Secretary General of the Supreme Security Council and the National Security Adviser, the Commander of the Armed Forces, the Bahraini Chief of Staff and other senior officials.

The visit comes against the backdrop of the progress of negotiations between Western countries and Iran to sign the new nuclear threat.

During the visit, he toured the U.S. Fifth Command and met with Navy Commander Admiral Charles Cooper and his crew.

The visit joins a series of visits and additional meetings held between senior IDF officials and senior US military officials in Bahrain and Israel.

In addition to the joint visits, IDF fighters have recently trained with US Central Command forces in a number of joint exercises in the Red Sea, air, land and sea. This is another expression of the operational cooperation between Santcom and the IDF.

The IDF spokesman said that “the continuous relationship between the IDF, the US military and the developing relationship with the Bahraini army attests to the close cooperation that shapes the Middle East and affects all its countries.”
