The peak of pollution continues. Traffic restriction measures will be put in place Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to midnight throughout the Île-de-France region due to a “persistent” episode of ozone pollution, the police headquarters announced on Wednesday evening in a statement.
For road traffic, the maximum authorized speeds will be lowered. Portions of motorways will be limited to 110 km/h instead of 130 km/h, portions of motorways and expressways normally limited to 110 km/h will be limited to 90 km/h, those normally limited to 90 km / h at 70 km / h and the national and departmental at 80 km / h instead of 90 km / h.
Limit car trips
To limit the level of air pollution, the prefecture recommends “limiting, as far as possible, car travel, favoring teleworking and, if necessary, carpooling”.
It should also be noted that “open air burning operations” will be prohibited, as will maintenance or cleaning work that emits volatile organic compounds (thermal engine tools, solvents, varnishes, glues, paints, etc.). Controls will be put in place, specifies the prefecture.
Ile-de-France is currently experiencing an episode of persistent ozone (O3) pollution. In order to reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere, the Prefect of Police sets up the alert system and takes measures to restrict traffic.
