Aerial dropping of bait vaccines to vaccinate wild animals against rabies takes place from today, Wednesday, until Sunday, April 28, in the Regional Units of Thesprotia, Ioannina and in a small part of the P.E. Preveza, as announced by the Animal Health Department of the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine of Epirus.

The vaccine bait is a small cube, olive-brown in color, with a fishy smell and contains a liquid capsule. In the case of finding vaccine baits, citizens are prohibited from touching or stepping on them and are generally prohibited from coming into any contact with them, while the local veterinary authorities must be informed. The public should be aware that in case of contact with the liquid of the vaccine bait capsule, they should see a doctor immediately. Hunting dogs and livestock are not at risk from the rabies bait vaccine.
The program of aerial vaccination of wildlife to protect against rabies has been implemented since 2013 every fall and spring, and has contributed to our country achieving rabies-free status in 2021.
