The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, confirmed that Al-Rusafa Stadium is one of the important stadiums that will be added to the stadiums of the capital, Baghdad. This came during a field tour he conducted to review the stages of work on the project.

A statement by the Ministry of Youth, received by the (INA), today, Sunday, stated, “Al-Mubarqa’ reviewed the stages of work at Al-Rusafa Stadium (Amo Baba), with a capacity of 30,000 spectators, which was recently resumed by the Spanish company Tri-Arena. “After the efforts made by the Ministry to overcome the obstacles that caused the work to stop earlier.”
He added, “The minister made a number of observations regarding several paragraphs in the project, in order to amend them with regard to the main stadium and the training fields, in a way that is consistent with the conditions of the International Federation of Association Football, in the event that tournaments are held there in the future.”
The statement quoted Al-Mubarqa as saying: “The Ministry is keen to complete all its projects, including stadiums and sports facilities,” noting that “Al-Rusafa Stadium is one of the important stadiums that will be added to the stadiums of the capital, Baghdad, and therefore we were keen to rework it by bypassing Administrative and financial obstacles, which caused the project to stop in the past period.”
He continued: “We will continue the field monitoring of the stadium to determine the stages of completion, monitor any delays or obstacles that may occur, and work to solve them, until we reach the completion stage, and include the stadium within the Ministry’s stadiums to host local and international tournaments, and it will be decorated by our fans, whose throats will resonate with this beautiful edifice.”
The project includes a main stadium with a capacity of (30) thousand spectators, in addition to two secondary stadiums for training, the first with a capacity of (2000) spectators, and the other with a capacity of (500) spectators, a hotel building, and a private parking lot.
