Madurai: Cowfighter Abhi Siddar, who won the Alankanallur jallikattu competition by taming 23 bulls, was injured when he accidentally rammed into a police van while taming the bull.

The world famous Alankanallur jallikattu competition started on Tuesday (Jan.17) after the Avaniapuram jallikattu and Palamedu jallikattu competition held annually in Madurai district on the occasion of Pongal festival. Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare and Sports Minister Udayanidhi Stalin inaugurated this jallikattu competition.

1,000 bulls and 300 cowherd players have participated in this competition. This jallikattu competition which started at 8 am is going on briskly and so far 7 rounds have been completed. 469 bulls untied. So far 225 players have participated. At the end of these 7 rounds, Abhi Siddhar from Poovanti is in first position with 23 bulls, Ajay from Enadi is second with 17 bulls and Ranjith from Alankanallur is in third position with 10 bulls.

Abhi Siddar Injury: In this competition, Abhi Siddhar from Poovanti, Sivagangai district tamed 23 bulls and remained at the top. Earlier this morning, Abhi Siddhar had injured his leg when he was gored by a bull. Seeing the blood dripping from his leg, the organizers of the competition, including the minister advised him to go to the hospital and get treatment. But he continued to participate in the competition in his desire to tame more bulls.

In this case, while trying to catch the bull, Abhi Siddar was injured when he collided with the security vehicle of the police department. As a result, Abhi Siddhar, who was taken for medical treatment, is currently resting on the advice of doctors.
