Almost invisible .. The story of a “jellyfish” turns into “fireworks” when it is highlighted (video)

The vastness of the ocean still hides in its pocket treasures of mysterious marine animals, discovered by skilled divers, who dive to great depths in different areas qualified for diving in the world.

Among these animals is the “fireworks jellyfish”, which is behind its discovery, a story that the site “Treehugger” told at length, after pictures spread recently showing the beauty of this rare animal.

Before 2018, while searching for a routine “crab sample”, scientists aboard the 211-foot-long “E/V” exploration vessel Nautilus came across snapshots of this neon beauty in an archipelago off Baja California, Mexico, at 1,225 meters below surface of the sea, via their remote-controlled deep-water vehicle, the Hercules.

According to the team of scientists, the fireworks jellyfish, called Halitrephes maasi, was described as such because its colors reflected like fireworks when illuminated.

Halitrephes are jelly diamond, racy, and when lit up, they look like an impressive explosion of fireworks.

The fireworks jellyfish consists of radial channels that help it move food through its body, and when lights hit it, it turns into bright colors of purple, pink, orange and red.

Interestingly, without any spotlights on it, this jellyfish is nearly invisible as it floats around the depths of the ocean due to its transparency.

The scientists on the boat noted that when something cool floated in the middle of the sampling operations, the team quickly documented the scenes they saw, which happened while finding the fireworks jellyfish, they said.

Scientists confirmed that the fireworks jellyfish can only be seen with its dazzling appearance thanks to artificial lighting and underwater cameras, while they indicated that it travels to the ocean where the mystery is for survival purposes.
