Toprak Razgatlıoğlu Secures Third WorldSBK Championship in Dramatic Jerez Finale

The 2025 WorldSBK season culminated in a spectacular display of skill and determination in Jerez, Spain, as Toprak Razgatlıoğlu clinched his third championship title. The Turkish rider successfully defended his crown, adding to his previous victories in 2021 and 2024, and cementing his status as a dominant force in the sport.

Despite a challenging Sunday that began with a collision during the Superpole race, Razgatlıoğlu demonstrated remarkable composure and strategic brilliance to secure the necessary points for the championship.

Overcoming Adversity in Jerez

The path to the title wasn’t without obstacles. A collision with Nicolo Bulega during Sunday’s Superpole race resulted in Razgatlıoğlu failing to score any points. Starting tenth on the grid for the second feature race, he needed just three points to secure his third WorldSBK championship.

While Bulega delivered a flawless performance, winning the race from start to finish, Razgatlıoğlu executed a calculated climb through the field. Lap by lap, he steadily gained positions, reaching fourth before a decisive overtake of Andrea Locatelli’s Yamaha on lap eight propelled him into third.

“Now we are world champions, I am very happy about that,” Razgatlıoğlu shared with the WorldSBK network immediately after the race. “First of all, I want to thank Kenan Sofuoğlu, all my brothers and fans, especially the team. This year we didn’t start strong, but every race weekend we improved, we never gave up and finally we got the title. Thank you very much for everything.”

A Season of Dominance

This championship victory caps an extraordinary season for the Turkish star, marked by an impressive 21 wins and a total of 616 championship points. Razgatlıoğlu’s consistent performance throughout the 36 races underscores his exceptional talent and dedication.

His journey to the top began with his first World Superbike Championship win in 2021, followed by a record-breaking 13 consecutive victories in 2024. This year’s 21 wins further solidify his legacy.

With three titles – one with Yamaha (2021) and two with BMW (2024 and 2025) – Razgatlıoğlu has firmly established himself among the elite riders in the sport.

Looking Ahead: A Move to MotoGP

Razgatlıoğlu’s success in WorldSBK has paved the way for a new challenge: a move to MotoGP starting next season. He is expected to begin testing with a MotoGP team soon. Few observers doubt that Razgatlıoğlu will quickly adapt to the premier class of motorcycling and make a significant impact. His unique ability and exceptional sensitivity on the motorcycle are widely recognized as assets that will translate well to the higher level of competition.
