“I don’t have time to get emotional, I don’t even think about it.” Two days before the start of the Sanremo festival, Amadeus talks about the emotions of the eve of his fifth artistic direction to Mara Venier, on Domenica In, connected from Ariston.
“Here in Sanremo there are already many people from all over Italy. This fills me with joy: it will be a party. And I’m happy because I’m surrounded by many friends.” While Amadeus confides, Fiorello, disguised as Batman, and Fabrizio Biggio in the role of Wonder Trans burst in. “In four years there have been many special moments – says Ama -, for example when I review the images of 2021 with the empty Ariston I can’t help but thank every single person who took to that stage. Four years that cannot be forgotten” .
Certainly, Amadeus admits, he didn’t expect everything that came from 2020 onwards. “At the first festival I thought they had called me because they hadn’t found anyone else and I did it with the lightheartedness of someone who is convinced that there wouldn’t be a second one. This attitude allowed me to have a festival in freedom. If there had to be only one, at least it would have been the way I liked it.” From one we went to five.
“And, with the enthusiasm of a child, I carried forward my desire for change, to bring the festival among young people.”
With the support of her family: “Giovanna is a fundamental advisor, and my son Josè, who is 15 years old, introduces me to many incredible artists. Many are in Sanremo because he introduced me to them.”
And then he concluded: “I feel like a kid who dreamed of playing football and finds himself playing in the Champions League final”.
