“My parents did not believe that theater and acting would be able to make a living for me and asked me to study something else first. I understand that anxiety. In fact, I’ve been through a lot of unemployment until I got back on my feet,” the actress initially admitted, talking about her studies in Economics in England.
Asked how she never backed down and left acting, she revealed that she once auditioned for drama schools in London. However, she did not succeed and chose to continue her studies in Economics.
“Because I didn’t pass I thought I didn’t have it. But I didn’t feel happy even though I had managed to be in a good place. Then I decided to go down to Greece and study acting”, confessed Amalia Kavali and added that “I had set goals and said that if I don’t manage to have my work done in five years I will return to Finance”.
The “Wild Bees” and the “Wreck”
We met Amalia Kavali in “Wild Bees” through the role of Urania. As he told “Eleni” he found himself in the series by accident. “I did a seminar with Danai Loukaki, she told me about the auditions, I liked Lefteris Harito and the next day she asked me to go for a casting.”
He then mentioned Stella Petratou, who he plays in MEGA’s “Wreck”. Speaking about her role, she noted that “Stella is an actress in an era, which means she’s a professional. He works in a tough space and claims rights. It is important for her to do her job the way she wants. She carves her own path.”
Stella lost her husband in the wreck and after learning that he has been killed, she began to seek revenge. “The screenwriter chose to put the reaction of self-righteousness in a female character that we don’t normally associate with that. The vendetta comes to a woman, who claims to find her husband’s killer and tries to get him to confess before killing him. Stella is planning a long route,” he said.
And he added: “Stella is reaching the limit. Although she learns that her husband’s killer has a child, she is overcome with a kind of rage. She’s not a made killer, she’s never held a gun before.”
Asked if she will be with Vassilis at some point, she emphasized that both are in mourning. “Now if they’re going to be together…” he said with a hint, avoiding giving more details.
In addition to “Shipwreck”, Amalia Kavali also stars in the play “My husband” at the “Thision” theater. “It is based on short stories by Rumen Buzarovska. There are seven monologues shared between me and two other actresses.”
