The police tonight (Friday) foiled a suspected assassination attempt near the event hall in the Airport City area, where the wedding of the daughter of known criminal Yossi Mosley took place.

The beginning of the incident during a routine enforcement activity of the police together with the traffic department tonight, in the area of ​​Ben Gurion Airport. During the activity, YSM and MGB police officers identified a vehicle that aroused their suspicion. The suspects who were inside the vehicle refused to stop for inspection and began to flee. During the attempt, a barrier was breached, a car was hit and a policeman was wounded in the hand.

During the chase, the police fired at the vehicle’s wheels and managed to arrest the two, residents of Holon in their 20s, in the back parking lot of the event hall. Later and at the end of searches, a gun and a matching cartridge were located nearby. At the end, the findings were forwarded to continue extracting evidence in the forensic laboratories of the Israel Police.

As mentioned, the two suspects were arrested that night for questioning at the police station in Rosh Ha’Ain and at the end they were imprisoned. Today they will be brought to a hearing in the court in Petah Tikva with a request to extend their detention, this in accordance with the needs of the investigation.

As you may recall, earlier this week the attorney’s office approved Mosley’s release to house arrest under restrictive conditions until Saturday night, after he was arrested in Israel last week when he decided to return to Israel because of his daughter’s wedding. Mosley, 45, is a suspect in the “Aviv Arabi” case investigated on by the central unit in the Tel Aviv district in 2017, and the police attribute to him the murder of Avihai Vaknin and the attempted murder of Yankel’a Amsalem and Itzik Cohen.
