An exhibition dedicated to World Theater Day has opened at the Azerbaijan National Library in Baku, Day.Az reports.

The book exhibition presents publications about the life and work of outstanding personalities who left their mark on the history of theatrical art. The exhibition will be on display for a week.

World Theater Day is an international professional holiday of all theater workers, celebrated annually on March 27. “World Theater Day” was established in 1961 on the initiative of delegates of the IX Congress of the International Theater Institute of UNESCO.

“Theater Day” is a professional holiday for theater workers: actors, theater directors, producers, lighting engineers, sound engineers, set installers, etc.

It should be noted that Azerbaijani theatrical art has gone through a long and rich path of development. On March 10, 1873, the amateur troupe of the Baku Real School presented a performance based on the play “The Vizier of the Lankaran Khanate” by Mirza Fatali Akhundzade. This production laid the foundation of the Azerbaijani national theater.
