Thiruvananthapuram: It has become clear that the government has issued an order sanctioning Rs 8.50 lakh salary arrears to State Youth Commission Chairperson Chinta Jerome as requested by Chinta. Chinta’s letter to Principal Secretary M Sivashankar demanding dues came out.

On 22 August 2022 this letter was sent by M Sivashankar for further action. On the basis of this letter, the arrears order was passed.

17 months salary from January 2017 to May 2018 with retrospective effect. The order specifically states that the arrears are allowed as requested by Chinta Jerome.

Chinta Jerome requested salary arrears and was granted by the government amid the financial crisis and strict cost-cutting measures. Chinta had challenged the media to release such a letter, if there was one, when the propriety of asking for the dues of lakhs was discussed. But they are not ready to respond after the release of the letter of concern.

Chinta had told the media that if he gets this amount, he will give it to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

It has been requested that there is uncertainty in the salary received from October 2016 when the chairperson was appointed to the period when the rules were formulated and therefore the arrears between the amount received as advance and the salary fixed as per the rules of the Youth Commission for the period from October 2016 to June 2018 should be allowed.

The order clearly states that the amount is sanctioned in accordance with the letter written by Chinta Jerome in August 2022 requesting that the salary arrears be sanctioned with retrospective effect. 17 months salary from January 2017 to May 2018 with retrospective effect.
