Actress Angelina Jolie will play opera diva Maria Callas. A feature film based on the biography of the famous singer is directed by Pablo Larrain. This writes the online edition Lenta.ru.
The film will be called “Maria”. The authors of the picture want to show the audience the last days of the life of a talented performer. The director admitted that he has two passions – cinema and opera. And now he managed to unite them. Larrain added that working with Jolie is “a real gift” for him. He considers the actress “bold and inquisitive.”
The screenplay was written by Steven Knight. He was the screenwriter of such films as “Peaky Blinders” and “Lock”. It is not yet known when filming will begin.
