Apple: Insiders dare to predict iPhone, iPad, Watch and iMac for 2022 | Life & Knowledge

by time news

What will 2022 bring? While dog and cat lovers do that Pet horoscope read, Apple fans rush to the New Year’s predictions from technology insiders – they are usually more accurate than looking at the stars …

Experts like Mark Gurman, reporter at Bloomberg, the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo or the self-proclaimed Apple insider Jon Prosser do not get their information from the crystal ball, but from suppliers or employees of the iPhone group.

Taken together, this gives a first impression of what Apple could plan for 2022.

iPhone und Apple Watch

► The iPhone is Apple’s most important hardware product, and it generated more than half of its sales for the group in the past fiscal year. For the year 2022, analyst Kuo expects four different models with two different screen sizes: 6.1 inches (approx. 15 cm) and 6.7 inches (approx. 17 cm).

That would mean Apple forego a mini model. Instead, speculation is about the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

In the coming models, Apple will do without the notch in the screen, says Mark Gurman, among others. The iPhone should not do without an opening in the display – the camera will look through a small hole in the screen, they say. Such a solution can already be found on many Android smartphones.

According to the analyst Kuo, the two Pro models are to receive a camera with 48 megapixel resolution for the first time. That would be four times the current resolution.

► However, before an iPhone 14 is likely to appear in the fall, Apple experts expect a third generation of the entry-level model for the first half of the year iPhone SE. According to rumors, the current A15 processor is supposed to be plugged in iPhone 13, as well as the 5G cellular standard.

► Apple could bring out three different models of the Apple Watch this year. In addition to a new Apple Watch SE, this could be the Apple Watch Series 8 and a particularly robust sports version, it is said. One of the innovations of the smartwatch should be a sensor for measuring body temperature.

iPad Pro

► For the first time, the iPad Pro could be built with a back made of glass instead of aluminum, reports Bloomberg. This would make it possible for the first time to charge the iPad Pro wirelessly.

The batteries of other devices such as iPhone or AirPods could then possibly also be refilled with energy from the tablet by placing them on the back of the iPad Pro. The iPad Pro with 11-inch screen could also have a display with mini-LED technology, as is already the case in the 12.9-inch model is installed.

MacBook and iMac

► A completely revised version of the Macbook Air should possibly come onto the market in the middle of the year. There are rumors about a new design with a flat case and different colors, similar to on the iMac. In addition, a powerful M2 processor should work inside, which Apple is developing itself.

► After Apple completely overhauled the iMac with a 24-inch screen in the spring of last year, the 27-inch iMac will be available this year. In addition to a new design, a self-developed processor from Apple can also be expected here. There are also rumors of a screen with mini-LED technology as in the iPad Pro.

► According to Bloomberg, a new version of the professional Mac Pro computer should be significantly smaller than its predecessor and will come onto the market for the first time with Apple’s in-house developed processor. So far, the Mac Pro is still sold with processors from Intel.

Apple glasses

► However, the most spectacular Apple product of the year could be glasses for virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR). There have been rumors for years that Apple is working on it, but Mark Gurman believes that it could actually be presented this summer.

The glasses should be able to display messages, e-mails, cards or games in the user’s field of vision, among other things. According to analyst Kuo, 3D sensors could not only detect objects in the environment, but also, for example, hand gestures by the user.

An iPhone shouldn’t be necessary to use the glasses. The built-in technology is so powerful that it can be dispensed with. However, some analysts believe that the device has its price. You guess a retail price of around 3000 US dollars (approx. 2650 euros).
