According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to launch the new iMac as early as the second half of this year. It is said that the new iMac will have a screen of the same size as the previous 24-inch, and is expected to come with a more powerful M3 processor made with 3 nanometer technology.

The new iMac didn’t enter mass production until at least three months later, as expected, but production could still start in the latter half of this year in the same previous colors, such as blue, silver, pink, and orange. Gurman says the new iMac is in an “advanced stage of development” and that Apple is “currently conducting production tests of the device.”

Other details revealed by Gurman indicate that some of the iMac’s internal components may be “iterated and redesigned,” and that the production process for the iMac display stand mount is “different.” Apple has not updated the iMac range in two years – since 2021, which was equipped with an Apple processor – and also an opportunity to offer a larger screen size and a range of new colors.

In addition to the new iMac, Gorman says Apple is also preparing to launch the new 15-inch MacBook Air, the upgraded 13-inch MacBook Air, and the Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra chip. Gurman speculates that it might make sense for Apple to put the M3 chip in the 13-inch MacBook Air, too. As Apple introduced the new M2 processor two months ago with the Mac mini and MacBook Pro laptops, in a great and cheap upgrade to the processing capacity provided by the M2 processor.

It’s a busy year for Apple. The company is expected to showcase its new M3 chip at the Worldwide Developers Conference next June, where it can also introduce its long-awaited virtual reality headset.
