Apple Original Films to begin streaming Martin Scorsese-directed ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ on Apple TV+
Martin Scorsese’s critically acclaimed film, Killers of the Flower Moon, is set to begin streaming globally on Apple TV+ from Friday, January 12th. The film, which has received nominations for Critics Choice and Golden Globe Awards, features an all-star cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone.
The film, which has already garnered a global box office performance of $156 million, is set to make its debut on the streaming service after a successful run in theaters. Apple’s decision to first premiere the film at Cannes and then have a full global theatrical release by Paramount, sets a precedent for big budget streamer films going forward.
Killers of the Flower Moon, based on the David Grann book and adapted for the screen by Eric Roth and Scorsese, is set in 1920s Oklahoma and tells the story of the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, known as the Reign of Terror.
The film has already been honored with numerous accolades, including being named the Best Film of the Year by the National Board of Review, as well as receiving multiple nominations from critics’ circles and awards organizations.
Produced by Apple Studios, Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions, and Appian Way, Killers of the Flower Moon is considered a frontrunner in the awards season and has already made it onto the shortlists for the Oscars in several categories.
