The central government has assured that appropriate action will be taken to control the prices of fuels including petrol and diesel.
Responding to a question from a member of the state assembly, Union Finance Minister Pankaj Chowdhury said the excise duty on fuel had been reduced by Rs 10 per liter and petrol by Rs 5 per liter from November 4 to curb it.
He said despite the rise in international crude oil prices, petrol and diesel prices have not risen in the country.
