Arab Coalition Intercepts Ballistic Missile North of Riyadh

The coalition announced the interception early Wednesday, stating that the coalition intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile north of Riyadh launched by the Houthi movement. Military officials confirmed that Sanaa, Saada, and Amran governorates serve as sources of these cross-border launch threats.

Coalition Response and Intelligence Tracking Over Sanaa

Major General Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the coalition forces, detailed the military’s ongoing operations to neutralise the threat from ballistic and surface-to-surface missiles. Following the projectile’s destruction, the coalition announced that its intelligence systems are actively tracking the launch platform in the skies above Sanaa with the intent to destroy it.

Houthi Group Claims Strike on Riyadh Airport

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the strike asserting that the group targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with drones and a ballistic missile. Independent verification of these claims was absent, while Saudi authorities maintained that the missile was successfully intercepted before reaching the facility.

Houthi Missiles Force Flight Diversion from Aden Airport

Inside Yemen, the security situation deteriorated further when the Houthi movement launched two ballistic missiles and multiple explosive drones at Aden International Airport. The Ministry of Transport in Yemen noted that one missile struck near the runway just minutes before a Yemenia Airlines flight from Cairo carrying civilian passengers was scheduled to land, forcing authorities to divert the flight to Jeddah.
